The
saga of Santa’s Elves continue! In the
first book, The View From Santa’s Sleigh,
Santa brings home beautiful Tessa for Jedrick.
This time, when Tessa and Jedrick are expecting
twins, Tessa’s best friend, Angie, decides
she needs to come to the North Pole for her
friend. Never mind that she’s a nurse
and she’s had her eye on Jedrick’s
brother, Ardan, who happens to be the elves’
doctor. Sparks fly when these two finally get
together and when a tragedy threatens to pull
them a part, Ardan must decide whether he can
finally take a chance on love.
“What’s the matter now?” he
practically barked out.
“My, my…aren’t we sensitive
today?” She clucked her tongue and stepped
back to look at him.
“You are trying my patience,” he
growled and turned to her. She barely came to
his shoulders and just one look told him he
should consider devouring her rather than pushing
her away. God…did she have to stand so
close to him? He wanted so badly to lean into
her. And he knew what leaning into her would
cause.
“I just wanted you to know that Jedrick
called. Apparently, Tessa isn’t feeling
well today and he’s sure they will be
in later.”
“How many times is that now?” Ardan
shook his head. “They just need to be
patient.”
“This hasn’t been the easiest pregnancy.
Carrying twins is difficult at best and even
minor problems can quickly turn into major ones.”
“I understand that and Tessa has received
the best of care.”
“I know.”
Ardan watched as Angie turned and surveyed the
room, taking each and every detail. His heart
began to beat faster.
“You know you can be proud of this room
and of the health care system you’ve brought
to Santa and the community living here.”
“I know,” Ardan began and sighed.
The overwhelming sense that he missed something
pressed on him.
“I hear a ‘but’ in there somewhere.
Just what’s the problem, Ardan? Am I finally
getting on your nerves?” she winked at
him.
Stepping back he looked down at her. Was he
that transparent? He drew himself up to tower
over her. “Your incessant chatter does
put me on edge sometimes.”
He could almost feel the deep chuckle in her
throat. It was as if a cat were purring.
“Are you sure it’s that? Maybe it’s
my quick wit or sexy body that’s thrown
you off?” she leaned into him. “Surely,
you can’t resist me forever.”
Ardan snorted. Resist, indeed. “Madam,
I don’t know what you’re talking
about.”
“Sure you do. You just don’t want
to admit it, big boy. You want me,” she
closed her eyes as if breathing in his scent
just like he had done moments before when he
had his back turned to her. “And I want
you.”
Slowly, she slid a finger up his leg and under
his lab coat. If that hand or finger went an
inch higher, she would know that he lied. Still,
he tried to will his body to obey his commands.
Human women were off limits. Angie’s hand
continued its journey up his leg and he knew
he was lost. How was he going to explain this?
She leaned back, looked up and chuckled. “What
do we have here?”
Ardan almost felt physically sick. He hadn’t
let a human woman touch him since college and
here this one was practically in his pants.
He cleared his throat. “I don’t
know what you mean.”
“And you call yourself a doctor?”
She stood on tiptoes and pulled him down to
her. “Maybe I’ll have to teach you,”
she whispered in his ear as her tongue snaked
out and gently caressed the flesh.

– The
Thing About Elves
“The
Thing About Elves by Lynn Crain is the second
book from her Santa’s Elves series and is
a wonderful addition. I loved this book, not only
for its’ characters but also for the story,
it sparkled with love and sensual heat….I
loved this book, not only because of the Holiday
season but also because love can happen to those
that swear they’ll never fall in love. Love
has no reason or rhyme, it just happens and when
it does you need to hold on with both hands and
enjoy the ride. And that is exactly what Ms Crain
has created with this book, hold on and enjoy
it for the fun, love and adventure it has within
its’ pages.”

Her best friend’s impending delivery brings
Angie Hudson to North Pole and into the clinic
of gorgeous elf doctor, Ardan Locklin. Soon she
realizes that she had another reason to stay.
Ardan has been hurt before and would not allow
this human woman crumble his defenses. How on
earth is Angie going to change his mind about
love and humans?
Beautiful and lively Angie is a devoted nurse
and equally compassionate for both her elf and
human patients and at the same time very in tuned
with her sexuality. Having a harsh childhood,
this sexy little kitten hides her dreams of a
family of her own behind a playful nature and
laughter. Ardan has the pointy ears but lacks
the mischievousness of elves and appears to be
quite in control of himself and his magic. He
is determined not to give in to his attraction
for his frisky human nurse but who can fight fate!
As their relationship graduates from sneaky glances
to flirty touches we are gifted with some out-of-this-world
sex. But great sex is just not enough, no matter
how deeply attracted and hopelessly tempted you
are, love is something that is needed to build
a life around and the readers gets this message
loud and clear as Angie and Ardan’s budding
relationship prospers. Ms. Crain has used the
winter wonderland of the North Pole effectively
as a wonderful setting of this tale. A little
more humor, clever one-liners and a dash of Angie’s
quirkiness would have done wonders to the story,
as I am sure Angie is capable of carrying any
situation on her shoulders, with aplomb. I felt
the ending was handled very well, though I didn’t
find the beginning of the story as good, but the
stark beauty of it all is sure to draw you in.
Go ahead find love in unusual places and never
let it go.
Elf
Ardan is a health-care practitioner at the North
Pole. A product of the best schools, he is an
excellent physician and possesses everything he
could ask for--except love, which he definitely
refuses. He hasn't been near a human woman since
the ill-fated college encounter, but he's having
a terrible time refusing sexy petite obstretical
nurse Angie who tries to be all over him at work,
all the time.
Ardan has refused to ever again participate in
sex only for its own sake, without love. His experience
long ago has soured him on that. But surprisingly,
after the delivery of a pair of large twins by
C-section, Ardan decides to take Angie to his
home to recuperate since she is clearly dead on
her feet. Application of a little elven healing
magic won't hurt either. As usually happens, one
thing leads to another, and hot elven-human intimacy
ensues. The next difficult will be in maintaining
the relationship.
The Thing About Elves is a sizzling story of intimacy
and romance set against the background of Santa's
community of elves headquartered at the North
Pole. Lynn Crain does a tasty job of communicating
human-elven sensuality in great detail. The characters
are interestingly done and the descriptive setting
is, quite literally, magical.
